First or second year Big 4 partners: What do you wish you knew going in that you didn’t?

Currently sitting on an offer for a intro/mid-level design engineer in the Raleigh-Durham Area and wanted to get an idea of the average paybands, online sites have such a large range (50k-400k) that it is hard to narrow in on a price to start negotiating

Looking to get into SaaS sales but my experience is in construction and fine furniture (I was a sales manager and was able to lead my team of 4 people to consistently hit 450k monthly targets). T3 firm reached out re: direct admit to the partnership with some runway to grow the practice. I am at a firm now where there aren’t bright line metrics to make PPMD, but think I could make it in 2-5 years. This would be a step down in brand, but might be better from a WLB and getting to start at partner. Haven’t had firm comp talks yet but range was well north of 50% increase in cash comp from current (plus LT equity, draws, etc). Anyone take $ over brand? what are some traps to watch for?

Question for some of the senior partners on this bowl: do you mind sharing what does the the top end of partner comp look like? Is it like 2-3M annually? And how many years it took you to get there after becoming partner?
