If you were at fault, then apologize and ask for advice on how to manage this better in the future.
If you weren’t at fault (but they think you were), still worth discussing how you can better meet their expectations in the future if there’s a mismatch.
If they are narcissistic/ sociopaths, there is no hope. If they have such a thing in them called empathy, then simply be true to yourself and to them and genuinely show your concern and way forward plan.
Give it some time. Then set up a call to discuss and open up. And, mention that you would be better in future, etc. Hopefully he will start giving you work and trust you slowly based on the outcomes. But not everyone has that maturity, patience and time. He will continue to judge unless some crisis hits and you saved him from it. Honestly speaking, you disagreed on something with him. That could be because of how both of you handle things. In this business no matter how much they keep on talking about diversity people essentially look for someone who are similar to themselves. Meaning if the partner can give work to you and forget about it knowing it will come out exactly the way it should be. Also, try to network with other partners in the meantime. Some good feedback from others can help repair it as well. Lastly, don’t over think. If something doesn’t work move on quickly to something better. Life is a often a bitch. When it hits you laugh it off and move on to the next thing.
If you pissed him off really bad - find another project and move on . I worked at EY briefly - most partners are awesome people . But when you rub them the wrong way , it’s very hard to recover organically . You need a way to side step and move from there
Have a respectful conversation.
