First time dad - we had booked a daycare with deposit but now my wife found something she likes. How bad is it if we don’t go to the first day care ? Don’t care about deposit.

It’s exactly as bad as losing your deposit

Anyone on the wait list will thank you

Not bad at all particularly if you don’t care about the deposit. But make sure what your wife likes is real and is actually good for the kid. That is all that matters.

They will fax your photo around to all the other daycares in the area and blacklist your kid. They will also describe your behavior to several major credit reporting agencies. You will never be able to pay someone to watch your kid again.

Just kidding. It's 100% fine.

They will be excited to make money without the work... Beware of cancelation fees.

Most child care providers have a waiting list.

Do people tend to age out of wanting to FIRE?

In your 20s-30s, you don’t know much, you’re told what to do, you have few financial resources so you are tied to your job. Under these circumstances it makes perfect sense why you would want to FIRE asap.

But eventually you advance up the ladder, you are now the boss and your people do all the grunt work. You also have built up expertise which makes the job easier. And you are making the best money of your life. FIRE is no longer so pressing.

In 2020 I made a few huge changes, I left my world of fashion/sales, retail operations and L&D and I moved countries and eventually found my way to Tech. I currently am in Sales Enablement, which I do love, but I want to grow.

How do I continue to grow in L&D/Sales enablement in tech?

Would love some insight, and also would need some help adjusting my resume to fit the tech landscape.

Thanks in advance!

My daughter just turned 14 months and she’s so fun! Starting to walk and talk. She says dada all the time. It’s just amazing. I’m looking for suggestions on things to do together. The weather is terrible so we are mostly in the house. She doesn’t really like to read but she loves it when we make up stories and do voices with her stuffed animals. She also loves playing with blocks and stacking toys.
