Assuming this causes a recession like in 2008, and many people get laid off, how long to take to find another similar paying job? I’m currently a strat manager in FS. Scared for job.

It’s hard to be motivated when rounds of layoffs happen and you see all your friends leave. But one thing that’s gotten me through all of this is working out. And when I say workout I mean the most pathetic, sad, barely completed beginner-level cardio dance routines. I’ve somehow forced myself to move while on lockdown and it’s somehow forced me to feel better. Whatever you’re doing, wherever you are: get up and move even if you don’t finish or end up going on a walk. Pls take care of yourself❤️

I think I have work trauma not sure how it’s clouding my ability to make decisions. I’ve had unstable work after being laid off from a company 3 years ago. I thought I worked out a plan to get to a stable place but my job is proving to be unstable yet again. I secured a FT role at another company but because it’s a lot less money I’m unsure because I feel very cynical about companies in general. I assume it’ll be just like all the rest but now I’ll just be making less and could get laid off.

After you are stealth laid off, other than job search, what do you do? I assume they won’t give you work and even if they do, you can politely decline? How do you feel about you are not progressing anymore and seeing other people progressing in their career? I have no intention to make partner, but still feel a bit stuck not doing that much.

I was just laid off from a fintech startup after 4.5 months as their first ever IP attorney. Anyone have any leads on other IP roles. I’m soft IP/marketing focused but also have patent experience.

We use Deloitte India for a number of parts of our delivery. Recently I have seen some unethical practices that violate labor laws and do not align with Deloitte principles. My manager says it isn’t my problem as they are a vendor but I can’t help thinking I have an ethical responsibility to do something. Any advice as to how to approach this without being fired?

Layoffs. Most big firms say they're sitting on a conservative pile of cash - which I believe is true - but work will obviously not return to pre-COVID levels in the short term, probably not even in the medium term. Are Biglaw layoffs coming?

I signed for a new job two months ago and will start next month (3 mo notice period in Europe). They were very keen on getting me on-board ASAP before signing but since I signed the contract it has been silent from the new employee. I gave my various rounds of interview in Deloitte USI 2 months ago, and since then till last Friday it was showing " interview in progress" on their job portal, HR said earlier that we are interviewing other candidates. I got an offer from Amazon last week and asked Deloitte recruiter to speed up the process, i didn't get any reply on my email but now it's showing " review in progress" on the job portal. What does it mean? Shall I wait for Deloitte offer or take Amazon's offer.
