I’ve only ever been required to show paperwork when the dog has not flown in the cabin and has flown below (which I would never do again either).
I’ve never had to show paperwork while flying domestically.
I’ve always had the paperwork super easy to get from your vet but I don’t think I’ve had to show it.
It’s pretty easy to get and you should have it with you, but 50/50 if they ask for it.
I have probably flown with my dog 50 times over the last 10 years and jet blue never asked but I always had it on my phone just in case!
Better safe than sorry
When I showed up at the airport I had to show the certificate from her vet (SWA), but that was some time ago.
I have never flown delta but yes they checked on American. Also if anything ever happens to your dog on the flight and you don’t have it there’s not really much to help say your dog was healthy when they got on the plane other than your say so, which won’t matter to them. It’s best to just get it.
