Yes. Moved up a level, have far more responsibility, got more money, but pretty much work 9-6 only.
I’m a director now and responsible for the Americas in my team.
In my case, absolutely. I also make more money.
Where and what do you do?
Yup. I moved up a level, have more ownership, better culture and WLB, and make over 2.5x what I made in consulting (not including the RSUs I got as a signing bonus).
For me, yes. I did a lateral move, got a 70% pay bump in base salary, and work ~40 hours or less per week on a regular basis. Less stressful and my team is much more respectful of WLB and just general boundaries and mental health
Can I PM you to ask you some questions about this transition?
Same, the myth that consulting companies push about industry paying less is sooo wrong
Folks, agree with others - may we please kindly ask for any more information you'd be willing to share of where you ended up? I get head-hunted, but is for roles that pay <50% of current as well as reduction in title (e.g., manager roles vs director/vp). Admittedly can tailor resume more, but LI is up to date. 5+ YOE consulting, 15+ YOE across various industries. Job postings I do find just aren't all that interesting. Not actively looking, but always interested in what's on the other side.
