Not very valuable imo, especially if your first job wasn't just a short few month stint. I have my degree, which is a check box for a lot of firms, but my work experience and what I can do is the crucial part.

I think for most it’s a non factor if it’s not a big name, but big schools/name brands can help. For me, it’s been a great convo starter and foot in the door. I went to GT and spend lots of time at southeast clients so it works. < 5 years out. Tons of jobs ops. Why I chose GT in the first place.

It doesn’t matter if you studied to be an electrician, once you’re in, you’re in.

It’s just one part of the background / experience you bring to the table.

(Disclaimer: Stanford Alum)

After about 2-4 years of experience, the degree becomes a non-factor unless you went to an Ivy or other impressive brand name school; even than the school is just one small flag of "validation" you're not an idiot.

My salary just got frozen @ 55.5k (SALT Tax, 1 year of experience). Should I start interviewing for other jobs? Worth it to stay 1 more year and “maybe” make senior? (PwC is 3 yrs to senior standard, 2 yr is early)

I have a Master’s in Accounting, and have 1 more CPA test then I’ll be done. Not sure if I have a strong enough resume to receive decent exit opportunities as a first year associate. I’m about to have busy season again and work 60,70,80,90 hour weeks at my low salary. Please advise!!

I’ve been told my company is changing my title from Associate Director of BD to Sales Executive. I’m concerned it reads like a title demotion. Is it just semantics? How will this look for my career development? Curious about the standard perception of Sales Executive from a seniority perspective. Where does this land on the sales roles hierarchy? For context, it’s a professional services firm, I’ve been there 3+years, and they gave a Sales Executive title to someone who just started 5mo ago.

One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.
