soo my sleep schedule is effed up, i keep trying to wake up early-ish (7am) but i’m lacking motivation and i wake up tired 😴

I would just sit him down, list all the things he’s missed in the past few days w proof, and then say that this cannot continue if he wants to continue working independently and not be stifled from micro managing. Say you want him to be his own vehicle for success, and currently it seems like he needs a little bit of a maintenance check, and you’ll have a check in w him at [xyz later date] to ensure progress because his currently lack of attention to detail is not conducive to the demanding work in consulting
Feedback. Explain the action he takes and the negative consequences of his action. Get his commitment to avoid the action on the future. If you’re not sure how, reach up your chain for coaching.

One thing you could try is setting expectations differently, by asking for an earlier first draft and then a more polished version where he can iron out any mistakes.
No, I’m the M on this work stream. The things he gets mad about is when he says he never received an email but he did. Or he says an email that was sent to him doesn’t have an attachment but it does. I’m not sure how to coach that. It’s attention to detail really.
Best practice inbox filters? Sometimes I miss an email or attachment. I hate when someone refers to an email and I’m scrambling to find it.
