The answer is when you can sell the work. For some, that's never.

We have been doing grant consulting since we founded our company in 2023, have a combined 45+ years of experience.
There is no hard line maximum amount of years of experience before we hire FTEs, although we recommend at least 2 years of experience.
Combined 45 years is not much, so not sure that would be my marketing tagline. But kudos to you for making it happen.
Consultants are FTE unless you are talking about independent contractors

I think you misunderstand this bowl. Most people here work for firms; it sounds like you want to be a sole proprietor and offer your experience, but that’s not a topic many of us understand.
