I don’t think you need a coach, you need a little more luck and the next one should be yours! The market is tight out there and it’s quite possible other SD equivalent consultants are also trying to exit, with similarly compelling qualifications
Have you ever asked for feedback? I've had similar situations where they ultimately went with somebody from industry
Yes, some roles went to industry candidates and some roles went to MBB consultants. As I said, it always came down to last 2 or last 3, with other candidates edging out on these things.
How’s your Executive Presence? If you’re going to a senior leadership role in industry, you’ll see a lot more experienced folks at this level. You only have 15 YOE, that can also be a factor even if you qualify.
I’m making blind assumptions here. Maybe you weren’t a fit with the team? Can you research their leadership to see their profiles?
Well you can probably coach 90% of us here, but my 2 cents - now that you know you could be more brief, start practicing that area. This may sound silly but I type out my answers and practice them out loud so I can both hear and see where I can improve.
Also, did you have a chance to exude the necessary leadership skills for the role, both influencing at C suite level but also being able to create a follower-ship, motivate and inspire a department?
My last thought, connect with your interviewers. Be personable and authentic, not just serious.
