Keep your resume and portfolio up to date even if you feel confident and comfortable in your job.

That is exactly the advice I would give to myself, stay ready so you don't have to get ready!
I want to say not to panic as much, but not sure that would ever happen. I wish I would have immediately filed for unemployment, because that is a nightmare process and you really have no idea how long you will be unemployed for. Something else, prioritize myself, update resume, check in with contacts, and set small term goals.

Yea, the not panicking advice is a tough one for me too. Of course I would want to tell myself that as well, but it is almost impossible not to and I've found myself a bit put off when others have told me to do the same. But it is still sound advice, panicking does not improve the situation at all.
I guess I would have pushed myself to do more networking in the first days. I eventually got into it, but I should have been faster. And I should have been faster on other things. I let myself spend too much time angry. I should have gotten over that and just gotten busy.

I can definitely relate! I didn't spend a ton of time being angry, but I was definitely slow at getting serious about my job search because I really underestimated how bad our current market is.
