What is happiness? It’s just a moment before you need more happiness.
Are you secretly Werner Herzog?? (imagine it in his thick Bavarian accent)
GenX here. It used to be really fun. Shoots were constant. Industry parties were abundant. We played as hard as we worked. Creativity was championed. And clients spent money.
Since 2015 though it’s all gone downhill. Now it’s just a job. I feel bad that the younger generations will never get to experience any of that.
Also GenX. And I approve this message.
What, in your opinion, is going to make you feel “happy”?
Awards? They can make you happy but it’s fleeting.
Successful campaigns can build your career, but anything can kill it.
It feels like the people who are “happy” are the people making money off of our successful at work.
Making money and making a difference.
Yes but I’m also in pharma
I had a very brief happy moment (similar to doing a bump) a year or go or so when I won 9 lions for a campaign. Was very happy for a short time but been miserable ever since (mostly because I decided to stay at the current shop)
Love what I do. Every day isn’t happy, but overall, the fact people pay us for our thinking and promise of delivery before we do any work is pretty unbelievable.
I've been mostly miserable at work for decades. It's only "fun" 1% of the time. No matter where you work, it'll all end up the same. When you win at One Show, you think you're changing the world, but all you're doing is lining some fat dude's pockets.
If you're not enjoying it now, don't expect things to get better. Leave and do something more fulfilling, that the rest of the world cares about.
Not what the rest of the world cares about but what you care about.
