I wish I had access to wisdom when I was younger. Wisdom is rare and priceless. But yes, if not an MBA, then law or medicine. Careers are long, modern attention spans are not.
Question is… you’re already at BCG, so why do you want it?
The why will dictate how much you should spend, where you should go, etc.
Agree with P1 though. The value far outweighs the cost. Think payback within 3-5 years and everything after that is just added benefit. I didn’t think like this until after the first term in the program
That is the question. The MBA is a tool. Whether it makes sense depends a lot on what you are expecting to get from that tool. My info is pretty dated. Top tier exec MBA. Firm paid, though I prob get hit with $25k or so additional taxes and had to bear other costs…
I went to a t15, spent roughly $200k ($80k tuition, $120k living expenses), financed it 50/50 cash and loans.
I went to a top 50 program very early in my career (20+ years ago) and had a full ride. Only had to fund my living expenses. Since it wasn’t one of the elite MBA programs, I didn’t come out making a big salary, but having an MBA opened a lot of doors (my current firm only hires people with an MBA and they don’t have to be M7).
