As an out-of-work controller I can honestly say I do not care either way. Big 4 chose that path and I commend them for that. I chose the corporate accounting path and I commend myself for that (even if said corporations refuse to hire anyone over 30 because, well, AGEIST).
And even you, Mr “look at me I have created fire 🔥 “ are to be commended. Just don’t expect a celebration 🥳 or even empathy.
So gross profit means absolutely nothing. Like if you spend 1.1 million on costs of goods sold then you'd be losing money this year lol. You didn't make a million dollars this year. Also you didn't say how many hours you worked to make this. If you worked like 80 hour weeks every week then that's 2 9-5 jobs to make whatever you made. Love the confidence though

You have stamina. Do what makes you happy and know not all persons are going to be entrepreneur.
I’ve done the entrepreneur life before, and came back to a 9-5. Not everyone wants the risk and the responsibility of running their own business. Happy for you, but please realize everyone wants different things.

SA1 you have free will. You at some point was sold that big 4 was the way and work 70-80 hours to make someone else’s dream come true is just that and you FREELY chose to do so. I was once like you until I found out how poorly kpmg paid. It was a matter of value and I found infinitely more value dedicating all efforts to my own business, instead of a business of 10,000 owners whom NONE give a shit about you.

Ah yes "business" is better than 9-5 and you won't divulge the type of service you're running either. Just say you weren't cut out to excel in public accounting, it's okay. It's not for everyone, just like being an entrepreneur isn't for everyone. I wish I'd knew you in real like so I can hear how idiotic you must sound talking about your passion

Happy for you OP! Too many of us are risk-averse to make the leap to becoming your own boss. But for those that do, the payoff might be great.

Leap of faith. Once the business starts making enough to cover fixed costs, which really isnt a HUGE hurdle (while also taking advantage of LLC tax business expenses) your “paychecks” become pure cherry on top (vs at kpmg one entire paycheck went up in flames to cover rent,utilities, etc, and the other check, if there was any leftover, was for anything else
I would love to do that. Not for the big pay day. I did tax and finance transformation...not sure how too turn that into a business. But would love to get there

I have a 9-5, work fully remote, and have a net worth of over 1.1 million at 30. And i did it alone since I’m not married lol
Now my investments make 2/3 of my income (which is a little over 250k from my 9-5). Not knocking you, but would much rather do this than open some tax service business LMAO

What industry is this business in? And how did you start it?
No the only thing I got out accounting/kpmg was the CPA aspect (I do my business accounting myself) and invoicing and general business knowledge. New business is entirely unrelated to tax/accounting services

Why are you being secretive about what you do? I would love to have my own business, but can’t really find something that I love to invest in and go off on my own.
Not being secretive just protective. Business is entirely a service business I perform out of my own home based on a personal passion of mine.
