It might have to be. Or a remote job that isn’t QC-based but still in Canada because Montreal is the last big Canadian city that is still somewhat affordable, so Toronto pay and living in Montreal is still good.
I used to live in Montreal and I work for a US company remotely
I'm an anglophone moving there later this year. I'm upskilling my French before moving so I can handle most daily transactions but don't know what I'll do if I lose my current job. We do have an office in Montreal that I'll be based out of but if I lose this job and have to find another one it might be challenging as I also won't have the skills to work in French.
Welcome and dont get the angry anglophone comments about anti english stuff to literaly. I've been working with both native English, and French and with migrant from all over the planet. No one is totally close minded to speak with english speaker. The thing is that if you live in the province, you will need some french skill. Yes we are in canada. But Canada is not only English and some dont want to make the effort of living in a french prov. There lost.
How do you think I learned English? I am a native french speaking from the est end of Montreal. Started working for an English speaking company, took me a few week to get ok in English and after a few years I was comfortable in both French and English. This would be the best opportunity for you to evolve and not limit you in the futur job market. And no, French is not more difficult than englih for day to day task. But If you want to write books, Now you have a large step.
Is the West end of Montreal really more English? I used to live near McGill and it was kind of English
