If you really wanna go off the grid, do a day or two trip to Culebra (flamenco beach) or even better Culebrita. There’s a $10 ferry from Ceiba, an hour uber from San Juan. Or a 30 minute flight in an 8-seater plane from San Juan.

La Concha is great
St Regis is great
It’s a Four Seasons now
We really enjoyed the Marriott in SJ. Got a room with a lanai read and napped for hours out there. Bar service will take drink/food orders as well… nice beach area, good pool
Rain forrest totally worth it btw. As is bioluminescent bay. Fours seasons well positioned for either.
Vieques is really neat too, or was - not sure to what extent it’s been built back
Condado Vanderbilt is a classic, but parts are a little dated. Not luxury, but recommend numerous uno beach house for brunch one morning. If you like boozy boats to a secluded beach, Salty Dog catamaran is always a good time.
Isla Verde Area: Royal Sonesta & ESJ. El Condado Area: Caribe Hotel, San Juan Marriott & Stellaris, La Concha, ACE Hotel, Condado Ocean Club, Tryst Beachfront Hotel and Condado Vanderbuilt. Rio Grande Area (30-40 minutes from San Juan): Wyndham Grand Rio Mar, Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve and Four Seasons (Formerly St. Regis). Rio Grande is close to El Yunque, Luquillo & Fajardo but driveable for a day trip.
