Looks like a good opportunity. When you are saying that it is a top 10 Tech firm, the chances should be good. Canada has the Global Tech Scheme under which there are high chances of approval.

The trusts and estates bowl is not very active, so thought I’d post here. We are in the middle of updating our will/trust. We don’t have any close family that could take care of our kids if we died. Our closest friend lives in Brazil. We would love to have her take care of the kids - but don’t know if there is any way around immigration laws to have that happen if she were willing to move to US. My Google searches haven’t turned up an answer.

Down because I got some upsetting (work-related) news yesterday. I was up for promotion and did not get it, basically for my actual job that I have been acting in for over a year. I had perfect reviews and perfect on the technical portion of the interview. Apparently they dinged me on something subjective relating to situational competencies. Colleagues—who I trained and mentored—did receive promotion and we will all be working at the same job, just them at higher level and pay. Contd.

She got a new job this year and is now making 210k (more than me) but still expects me to pay for all the dinners and groceries. I’ve already talked to her about this but just resulted in argument. Is there any coming back from this situation to make this equitable relationship or is break up the only option here?
