Got an interview with McKinsey for Associate position. Currently reading Case in Point and will try the online week case course. Any advice on what to focus on? I have a BS in Finance and MBA, so familiar with some cases related to business. Also, does anyone want to practice cases on Teams / video chat around mid Feb?

Start practicing live cases as soon as possible. Don’t waste your time reading a bunch of stuff. Make sure you’re familiar with the interviewer-led case style.

Thanks McK 1! Definitely trying to run these live with someone, hence the offer to run through these on Teams with others who are prepping. Trying to venture out of my circle to get straight feedback and learn by administering the cases in addition to answering them.

It's clichéd, but the Victor Chang materials actually worked okay for me. Videos used to be free. Just know frameworks are not what the interview focuses on - we want to see how you actively think through the problems.

Don’t forget to prep for the personal experience interview. That matters just as much as the case but is easily overlooked in prep. Ask your recruiter to introduce you to an Asc in your target office or practice for a chat and practice case. Otherwise Google for consulting club case books and use online forums to find practice partners.

Yes, don’t overlook the behavioral. Make sure your story is tight and thoughtful. Top down communication is key- you should be clear and comprehensive

Congrats on the interview invite! Victor Cheng comes highly recommended by a lot of people. Invest in his paid resources, have only heard good things. And rocket blocks.

Don't get so lost in solving the problem that you can't still connect with your interviewer. Communicate what you're thinking, including explaining your math so your interviewer can follow along. As you move through the case keep asking yourself "why is this piece important?"

I nailed the technical interview, and now have an interview dedicated to what kind of manager I am tomorrow. I'm really nervous as they will be asking questions over my communication style, talent development, collaboration, facilitating team engagement... any tips on how to approach these? I'm kind of scared to answer truthfully as I am a very laid back manager that is not a micromanager so don't want them to think I'm too casual for this position. I also have done very little hiring.

I interviewed someone and they were clearly sexist. All the other interviewers - all men - liked him a lot. I’m saying no to him and trying to articulate why. Please help? What do I say? The role he would come in for would need to support me and my team- among others. I don’t want to be the difficult person here, but he would clearly not be a good fit and I get the feeling he would not be a good partner to me.

All things equal - would you take 150 base and 300-400+ OTE to work remote for a Series C tech firm out of NYC? Or 120 base and 275 OTE to work for a Series B out of Scottsdale? If all the top consulting firms made anonymous decks or gave anonymous pitches to a client, eg no branding and the client did not know which firm made which deck, do you actually think that the client would prefer MBB? Is MBB actually coming up with better/more innovative solutions? I feel like I see many repeat or slightly altered solutions on almost all of my cases, are these really things that people at Deloitte/Accenture etc aren’t coming up with?
