When is it best to leave consulting? Here's how I think about it.
First, are you enjoying it? If so, why leave (it can be a great life long career)?
Second, are you still learning fast? If not, you're missing out.
Last, what skills do most employers value? In my experience, this dictates 2 optimal jumping off points:
(a) 2-3 years in. Consulting "tool kit" is solid
(b) ~1-2 year into Manager. Employers value experience managing people.

If you are from India, your Australian move comes with a certain PR and path to citizenship while US doesn’t offer certainty on H1B lottery and to GC. If your interest is to settle abroad, I would suggest try Australia (or even Canada) first before you come to US.

I think Australia is desperate for workers
If you are dead set on google in the US, your easiest route is probably joining google in your home country and transferring from there.
Visa to green card process is complex and can take a long time. It will be hard to switch employer during that time.
Actually absolute easiest may just be getting married to an American.
Why? Europe is so beautiful. Let’s swap places.

Australia looking like North Korea at the moment so I’d take that into consideration lol
A1 I’m seeing the craziest stuff going on there can’t believe people are justifying it for a virus with 99% survival rate
US is a better fit for your goals. TC will also be higher.
TC will be bad at Capgemini…
The L1B has a max cap of 5 years. If your current firm isn’t willing to initiate the GC process soon then it’s a risk. Converting to an H1-B is an option but that’s down to luck as well with the lottery. I don’t necessarily have a recommendation either way but immigration is something to keep in mind as you make your decision.
Why not google in Australia?
If your end goal is the US, I’d come here. Check your company’s policies on sponsoring GC. While no one will confirm that during interviews, they should have a established process & policy around it. Coming from Europe it will be a lot easier to get it compared to most countries.
Recently received an offer from Google in US. Google in US, especially Mountain View and then probably now New York as well, just has so many more interesting opportunities compared to all the other regions in the world. If your goal is Google, then coming to where the HQ is makes more sense. However, I chose another non-Google offer because of other considerations, and my suggestion is to not just aim for a company since there are a lot of good opportunities without a Google brand name on them.
If you do well workwise, you'll probably do better in Australia. The ability to have flexibility in moving across employees is a big advantage and factor that many overlook simply because US "sounds" good. US won't go away even after you've established yourself in Australia. You can very well move to the US later
