Dude .Not many senior consultant make that kind of money at EY.Take it and build a network before you make manager .

like

Not really. Should push hard for manager

like

how much time does EY promote to manager?

like

10 yrs of experience and you are currently just a consultant? You should grab sr consultant @135k with both hands and be thankful for it.

like

3 years at Senior, but it sounds like you’d be coming in as a Senior 3. Coming in with good comp with the expectation of a promote to manager in a year is probably a very good place to be.

like

OP - ask the promotion question to recruiter you working with.. you only have 6 months to show your performance ( as EY review period runs July- April)for this year so chances are less you will be promoted this year and also pay raise will be mediocre... ask what level you will be coming in (senior 3, senior 4 etc.) and also push for little more salary as revised salary doesn’t come in effect till October..

like

OP I have similar background: 10 years of exp (7 years industry plus 3 years consulting) also with an mba. But I was a career changer (total different industry post mba) I came in EY last month as manager at 140k in a Tier 2 city, so I would say you are in line salary wise.

like

Good salary. Stay at SR, if you're good you'll be promoted quick and while you stay at SR you should be staffed a lot easier than other Sr consultants.

like

Kind of a tough situation. You have the experience that normally would equate to a manager. But have you done consulting previously? Or all industry? The higher level role requires skills that are kind of unique to consulting which you might not have experience with in industry. With that in mind, I see why they would bring you in as a senior.

Comp sounds about right for a senior with your experience.

A year or two

Agree that your experience seems more in line with manager, so I'd hope for a quick promote there. Your pay is already in-line with manager1 pay as a senior.

How much do you make now?

Congratulations, OP! I have a similar profile.

I would have negotiated for the manager role and at least $150k in base.

Generally, EY doesn't seem to pay that much based on Glassdoor data.

May I ask what your current is? Where did you get your MBA from? And in your current role what business development & leadership experience do you have?

All in all $135k is a fair wage for Senior Consultant, but should you be aligned to a manager role and compensated accordingly is the question.

Not a good offer

I spoke to a EY Recruiter today. She asked for my range for a manager role on the Federal side. I said 150-175 base. The role is in DC. She informed me that is more in the SM range and she would reach out if there was a SM opportunity she had available. I’ve been in industry for more than 10 years. I didn’t think 150-175 base was too high for a manager role with Big 4 in DC. I make close to these figures now. Am I going to take a pay cut coming from industry to consulting?
