Although Amazon has instituted a hiring freeze and layoffs are probably on their way, I went through the loop for a security engineer position at AWS. Before I attended the final interviews, Amazon placed the hiring freeze and called me to ask if I wanted to go ahead or cancel my application. I decided do go ahead Right now I'm waiting for their response and the position I applied to changed from "under consideration" to "no longer under consideration". Thoughts?

I'm sorry. It's so rough. There's a whole genre of TikTok/Youtube videos that walk you through how others are handling this. I actually found a Reddit thread the other day dedicated to this.
For what it's worth, a friend of mine got laid off a month and a half ago. Scored a new job pretty quickly and then his family took an epic two week vacation in the interim. It was scary, but they definitely landed on their feet, and I'm sure you will too!
Don’t wait to file unemployment. You can get unemployment while you’re getting severance. It’s easy and it’s done online. I got laid off 18 months ago after 21 years at the same company. Totally blindsided. Take a few days off and job search full time. Best of luck!
So true....wow!!! Your statement bought me back.
Rant away, that's what this bowl is here for (side note, this is the mildest rant I've ever read 😂). Sorry you're having to deal with this right now, getting laid off is a gut punch, even if you saw the writing on the wall. Good luck on the job search.
If this is the first time going through this, expect a bit of an emotional roller coaster if you are like most. There will be times of depression as well as inflated hope when you’re actually get interview interviews. Take some time to figure out what you want to do next. Also realize that there are millions of people who have gone through this or going through this now so you are not alone.
I went through this 18 months ago. The first three weeks were the hardest. From my experience I would establish goals and a routine.
For me I started a CLM workbook reaching out to those in my network, I would follow up every two to three weeks to see if anything changed in their network and they heard of new opportunities. That way I had assignments each week and a plan of what I would do. I identified my now job after 3-4 weeks of unemployment, interviewed across two weeks with them and started on week 10 of unemployment.
A lot of people will offer lip service that they will help you but it’s up to you to provide a concrete way they can help - I had partner from my old firm put my resume on someone’s desk. It could be asking for any sort of introduction. If you don’t have something ready as an ask then their offer will be wasted.
Good luck, once you’re stable again you’ll look back and be proud of your resilience.
Best of luck to you. I was laid off in February this year and had an offer by March for a start date in April. It can happen. Don't lose hope, It's super negative out there but if you do find yourself with time on your hands make sure to take care of yourself!

Good luck in the job search. I keep hearing how rough it is, so hoping you don't have to wait too long for a new opportunity.
I know crazy times, even harder finding a remote job bc I just moved out to PA and most of these jobs are hybrid. I’m looking at a 4 hour daily commute.
Sorry to hear. The same thing happened to me last June, but I didn't see it coming, and was completely blindsided. I was with my company for 10 years. First it was panic, then marathon job applications & a few interviews. Unfortunately, it's almost a year later & I'm still unemployed. I guess I'm retired now. Hopefully, you'll fare better. Best of luck in your search!
fired from where? dont come to pwc. we just had a layoff and prob more to come in june.
Every time I lost a job, something better came. Things have to fall apart for them to fall into place. It's a new opportunity for you to grow as a person/professional.
At least your job gave you severance, my job laid me off with no severance pay and they know I just had a newborn baby too.
That’s terrible hope all is well
I was laid off in February and didn’t see the company redirection coming. I’ve been in panic mode for 3 months. It’s tough out there. I’ve seen “experts” say to tailor your resume for each individual application. At that rate, none of us would ever get anywhere. Good luck to you! I hope you find exactly what you’re looking for very soon. 🙏
Sorry yo hear that. Keep applying and saying yes to everything until something comes up. Good luck!
You should visit the unemployment office in advance to see how/when to apply. You'll have no problem getting that approved--but it won't be near what you make now. You should make it your full-time job to look for another job. You are the master of your destiny
Go to the department of labor ... they have jobs too ... also apply for part time jobs as well ... if you can't find a full time ... nothing wrong with 2 part time one's
Most people need insurance and can’t commit to part time jobs.
Yes I believe that easy apply are data collection, for analytic and research purpose. They use the data to convince customers to advertise in their platform when they are looking for certain skills sets and competence.
Here forever you....we all need a sounding board sometimes.
sad to hear, cheer up, you ll get something better soon.
not alone in this situation! All i can say is that better days ahead for you!
Take a week off from work, applying for jobs, and breathe. My boss closed shop in January unexpectedly. It took some time to realize there’s something better and I deserve better. I decided if I had to do gig work (spark, instacart) I would to pay the bills so I could set myself up for success in whatever I decided to do next. I even went and got my life insurance license.
