I’m at an agency that just went through several rounds of layoffs. It often seems like staff have no recourse when the layoffs hit. How could a staff union assist in that situation?
Everyone! I need your help! I was laid off due to a reduction in force certainty impacted by COVID-19! I am based in Atlanta, Georgia and I am currently seeking Business Analysts, Project Manager, Scrum Master, or Product Manager opportunities. Please, any help is appreciated. Thank you.
Left my consulting job after 2.25 years in October 2019 for a venture backed startup. Laid off in March 2020. Joined a VC fund as an intern shorty after, but our fundraise (for our fund) got pushed back.
I was approached about helping grow a small executive recruitment firm focused on private technology companies. I’ll be chief of staff. The company takes $150k/placement + equity. The co expects to hit $1m in rev this year. They also invest in startups.
Should I do it? Is this pigeonholing?
What things/activities would you advise doing while laid off to show drive/desire to remain in the industry/get back in? Would help if those activities also made money. Thanks!
Anyone else read the MS memo on no layoffs in 2020? What do you think? I'm skeptical of their ability to follow through, especially if the market spirals downward into a long-term recession
Hello, I was laid off yesterday 😅 does anyone know of any senior art director roles open?
Started career in video - transitioned to events. Looking to now transition into PM work. Having trouble (just seen as video or events person). Any certs or program reccos to boost me while laid off?
Anyone in Deloitte GPS received or heard word of layoffs? If so, what service line and what level?
Has anyone started working with or for their client after being laid off from a job where they for example ran that account at an agency? Is it dicey legally, did it piss off your old agency? Did no one care?
My experience in a nutshell:
-Joined agency before 40
-Stayed over a decade, the money was good
-A divorce kept me dependent on a significant salary/benefits
-Lost job during Covid layoffs in spring
Now it’s contracts and reinvention. Trying to pivot away from agency work and think about the next decade. It’s not easy to reinvent but it was inevitable. Agency shelf life is limited and life after agency world requires imagination
All these layoffs and not one top level bloated salary gone. How about making starting with salary adjustments there?
For those that are thinking of moving to new jobs. Are you worried about moving to a new company and being laid off? With the economy the way it is and rumors of lay offs this is something that makes me think twice about leaving. I am aware that it can happen at my current company but it's it more likely to be laid off first in a new company?
Hello! I’ve been working w/ my company since January when I came in as a recent graduate hire. The company has just done massive layoffs in every department except for mine but I was just informed by my manager that I will likely be laid off in the next few weeks. So I’m looking for any & all advice as I search for a new position. I like sales but am open to exploring recruiting, marketing, product manager, and similar titles that combine sales & internal processes.
What levels are Deloitte layoffs happening at? Analyst, Manager? Any particular competencies or skillsets being cut?
Any news of layoffs (or hopefully lack thereof) happening around? I'm worried as I have mortgage to pay.
My company just laid off my entire content team in NY due to budget cuts. Any opportunities in NY for a mid-senior copywriter? I’ve worked on Google, Snapchat, Allstate, etc. Thanks in advance!!

Does anyone know during a pregnancy whats protected and not? In my 3rd trimester and at the point where I have at least 1 appt./week. Today, a more senior leader I work with mentioned to my boss that she felt I was “checked out” and becoming unavailable due to “so many appts.” Mind you she pinged me BEFORE the work day started, only had 1 day this was an issue, and there’s other interactions that make me feel targeted. Just wondering is she’s crossing a line that I need to escalate.

Newsletters and keeping up with the news...there are so many ways to keep track of and our job is already so fast paced with program management. How do you find time to skim all newsletters and read the news every day without adding another hour or more to your work day? How do you motivate team members to read them too and pass on helpful info?

Real talk: For all Asian Americans in the industry, what has been your honest experience? For me, I always feel like I end up getting bullied and am seen as weak, no matter how hard I assimilate or end up doing the opposite by holding my own.
How do you deal when you know you’re just so burnt out? I feel it— everything is magnified, home life feels more chaotic. I’m looking for jobs. Getting nowhere and lots of automated rejection notes. Work demands are never ending. We have staff, not the right staff, so a lot of work falls to me. I never get to turn off. It’s wearing. I’ve been trying “take care of myself” going to yoga, getting a drink with a friend, but the demands leave me feeling like I never get to be idle.

Should I tell my manager I am on antidepressants? Took my first dose of anxiety/antidepressant medicine this weekend and noticed I was left feeling very sleepy and lethargic. Worried this will be the case for the next few days/weeks. Need to do this for the next 2-6 weeks apparently before I switch to anything and I worry that my performance at work will drop. Should I tell her or is it none of their business?

I have a job opportunity that will be a lateral move from my current position. It will grant me exposure to external communications and public relations versus what I have experience in, Internal. They are offering me 90k from a salary band of 80-90k. Because I was referred for the job from the hiring manager that I will be reporting to, is it asking for too much to counter offer?

CONTRACTORS: I have a quickfire round of questions because I'm really trying to get back into setting good habits now that I'm consulting full-time again.
How do you typically go about preparing your day?
1) What's your process?
2) What are some MUSTs you prioritize each day to maintain your work-life balance, mental health, etc. (i.e., phones/email notifications off after X PM; no work on the weekends, etc)
3) Must haves/dos for productivity and time management?
Thanks in advance!
What is everyone doing in terms of providing cell phones or reimbursement for plans on a personal device? We had an inconsistent policy before the pandemic. Seems like something that should be crystal clear as people at all levels have been required to use their personal devices for the last year+.
