Thoughts on homage watches?
Thoughts on a Omega De Ville Prestige as a first luxury watch? Would be ~$7.5K USD at retail. Some friends have said great things about Omega as a starter, whereas others say it’s not worth it over a Rolex Oyster Perpetual (which would be similar in cost).
I personally love how clean the design is, the use of gold, and the thinner band as it links the watch … find the Rolex band design to be too chunky.

Happy Sunday. For some reason, it’s 4:20 somewhere.

I have 3 luxury watches and am in my mid 20s right now. I move money each month to a watch fund, and then buy a piece when the price and opportunity align.
My watch money comes out of what’s left once all my savings goals for the year have been met. So, i typically get a watch every other year. Have 5 lux watches at this point and I’m 38.
Consider buying a birth year watch that you can gift to your future child when they are of age

Better yet buy the watch the year the child is born so that it will be the child's birthyear

I’m 34, three luxury watches (~$20k), big events or other excuse. Max out 401k and have a good bit of savings & investments.
Get a Rolex for your baby. Little fella is going to understand style from a young age
I bought my watches for special events such as first deal, birth of my sons, great deal, good year etc
So far: Rolex Sea Dweller, Cartier Santos 100, Chopard Mille Miglia, IWC Portuguese in Gold, AP Royal Oak, Rolex Submariner in Gold, Patek Philippe Gondolo.
Depends on your financial situation and if spending that on the watch would set you back on any other goals.

I save separately for watch purchases.
I’m 33 and have 5. (2 were gifts, 3 I bought). I save for watches in a watch fund outside of my 401k (max), investment allocation and short term cash savings (house/trips/ emergency). Also usually align my purchases to milestones. Wedding, mba , promotion.
Wife makes more then me so we are comfortable with expenses and savings.
