Need some advice here. I am a fullstack developer with 5 yoe in Angular and Python. My aim is to crack FAANG companies. Now I got an offer from HSBC in a credit risk model monitoring role using Python. It is close to a data engineer role.
My question is that will it be a good idea to shift from development role to a model monitoring role if I want to move to FAANG in the future?Or does FAANG not prefer people who are not in core development roles?Amazon Microsoft Google Adobe PwC EY Citi Barclays JPMorgan Chase

Ex-software engineer at NatWest in mid senior role here with past tenure of ~3 years at the company.
Company is by far the best for work life balance. It is truly a hidden gem and is the best among the best of all companies in this aspect.
Organization is comprised mainly of much older folks 35+ age and all of them are pretty chill about work. There is no concept of deadlines. Stand-ups aren't really scrutinized and you could take a whole 2 week sprint to complete 1-3 day task without being questioned much.
You could disappear for hours in between work and it would be fine. Employees log off early with hard stops in less than 8 hours and there are never any stretch hours.
Industry veterans who have worked in all cream organizations, come down and settle in here because they are aware that this is heaven for them.
Work isn't very challenging and you could do well with minimal effort. Most people here are not keen about work and not motivated to work. It is effectively a paid vacation to work here.
On the flip side, there isn't much learning. Tech infra wise they are far behind most organizations especially JPMC. Hikes vary largely amongst teams. Usually they are on the lower end. So growth can be a factor of concern but can be managed if you have leverage (SME or key dependency resource).
Company attitude is employee friendly and people are warm.
Overall I will highly recommend if you want to chill and focus more on personal life.
