Got some feedback from my AD to not second guess my decision making and defer to her so often, but at the same time, nearly every decision I make on the account is reviewed by her under a microscope and often times questioned. 😂

I work on another account with a lot more freedom and feel confident there, but it’s so hard on my main account because the AD has such a particular way of working, it’s almost paralyzing for me.

Tips?

Tell them. Sometimes we don’t know it’s happening. Also, managing is 1:1 not 1:many. Often, supervisors think all their direct reports are the same.

Good call. I don’t think they realize they are doing this and I’m new to the team so I’ve been a bit hesitant but I think you’re right!

Or quit.
Self aware account supes are a rarity these days and it sounds like your AD is a microtriggerer. Get out before your confidence is shattered beyond repair.
You got this.

Iam so sorry to hear you are feeling that way. I know that can be a very tough spot to be in. I agree with Account Director 1 above though. I would recommend having a conversation with your AD and letting them know how you are feeling.

If you’re new to the team then she’s likely questioning you to get an understanding of your process so that she knows you’re doing things the right way. As she starts to build trust in you, hopefully she’ll back off a bit.

I’m seeing lots of posts about really bad losses. If you trade you’re going to lose money - hopefully not all the time, but many positions will be mistakes. But you need a process to find ideas and manage positions. Two books you should read are “The New Trading for a Livinng” and “The Laws of Trading.” Both look at psychology, process, and risk in different ways that can help you work out your own process. The next 18 months will be much harder than the last 18 - time to start learning.

Right so here’s a bit of a dilemma I work to a much higher standard at home and it’s this high standard that means I’m in line for a promotion. I’ve grown so much and I feel really strong in my role I’m also busier than ever. The problem is we’re going back into the office and I don’t want to go in if it’s just going to be senior management in asking me to get them lunches for client meetings or fetch a glass of water and cutlery for meeting rooms. Definitely not ready to go back to that….

Hi everyone,

I'm going for a role for Account Director and have gone through the interviews with the head of accounts, BD as well as the ECD's. I received the following email at the end of the day:

"You are one of two candidates in the final round.

One thing we haven’t spoken about are your salary expectations. Could you have a think and let me know early next week as well as your employment status (residency permit)."

What would be the best way to answer this response? Appreciate the help
