It’s not ok or appropriate but not fully uncommon. Depends on the bar - is it more of a club with everyone shirtless or a vanilla bar. In any case don’t normalise and feel empowered to call people out
My problem is when I have called it out people have visceral reactions by calling me a prude or stuck-up or even racist (I’m a POC). I agree, call it out, but it sucks that that’s a reaction people have. The fact that enough guys here are saying they have to brush it off is sad.
Unfortunately, this is complacency.
It's never happened to me, but I don't spend a ton of time in bars. Regardless of how often it happens, it's not OK. Normalize consent, not sexual assault.
I don’t go to bars anymore but it used to happen to me. It happens at sober venues too with gay men grabbing my junk. It kind of bothers me but is what it is. If a guy is really attractive to me it’s awkward bc I can have a reaction to it. However, I would never grab another guys junk I don’t know that well. I never know what to do so I just laugh it off. I also frequently don’t wear underwear especially in the summer so get a lot of staring and grabbing. But that’s how I’m comfortable, especially when it’s 100* out.
Someone once smacked my butt to tell me to move because there was a person behind me walking with drinks
No, not at all, and I didn't realize when I was younger how inappropriate it was. I found that when I was younger and started going out (mid-2000s) that the older generations had this attitude of entitlement where they could just touch younger men without their consent...

Now that I am in my early 40s, I'm focusing on advocating for the next generation. I donate annually to our neighborhood LGBTQIA+ shelter, got my DE&I certificate from our state university, and I facilitate educational and training opportunities for employees and managers.
Only has happened to me by people I know.
