But I started at 55K in consulting so 😩
Had a path along those lines. BCG base pay is same for everyone by level, irrespective of personal pay history.
Thanks everyone. Contemplating move to industry currently to learn a new skillset and come back to consulting eventually. Having a hard time changing groups in consulting. Plus want the 9 to 5 gig for a year or two to work on health and side projects. Any advice? I feel like when I decide to boomerang I would be coming in at par or slightly higher base pay compared to consulting peers.
There has been a lot of inflation. 55-60 k was the norm a few years ago.
EY2 Considering your starting compensation...sounds like the move worked out great for you.
@EY2 gotcha. My b if I sounded like a total 💩
Hahaha no worries PWC3 I was shocked when I heard starting pay now!
As a rule early career comp is better in consulting than anywhere else. No other industry pays $75k to first years, except if you are in banking or a fresh Stanford/Princeton/CMU/MIT CS grad.
2 years consulting then 4 in industry. Came back at 105- 7 years ago.
I did. The company paid me what other seniors were making. So no big jump.
Opposite experience, Started in industry at 75, came to consulting in 2 Years at 95
I left industry as a manager then went back at senior which is consistent - 1 yr at sr then was promoted to mgr
Bcg1 - you don't have different tiers based on cost of living region?
Started in consulting, went to industry for a year came back to consulting at 95k
EY2 how many years in consulting prior to industry move? Were you involved in similar kind of work in industry?
3 years in consulting prior and I did internal consulting in industry
@PWC2 Not that I am aware of
