How do you know he wasn't slammed on more important stuff all day and just now was able to get to this? Don't assume you're the center of the universe. Just do good work and help make him look good. If he's shit, get on someone else's project as soon as you can, but make sure he can turn to people and tell them how great you are instead of saying you acted like an entitled little prick and left him hanging
Ignore for now. Take care of it first thing Monday morning. If questioned claim ignorance. "I was already signed off for the day and didn't see your email until Monday morning. I do not check phone email on weekends." Set boundaries now or you'll get walked all over.
You would be rolled off of my project if you gave me the "I didn't see this until Monday" excuse.
Agree with D2 - just do the work and have a conversation about it next week. Ignoring an email is not a great strategy
Kill them
You can clearly see the difference in firm culture in this thread
How bad to you want that promotion?
Execute now. Since you now they do this, proactively ask mid Friday's from here on out.
I mean I just do it, cuz like... What the fuck if it's leadership asking I'm not gonna leave her high and dry. Still, it sucks. :\
Ur not saving lives, handle it tomorrow
What KPMG1 said. Alternatively do it on Sunday. That way you'll look good and you would have given him the polite fuck off
Lol kpmg thats why you guys suck, because you think ignoring your manager's request is a good idea. OP do the work, voice concerns next week.
To each his own. Don't be a bitch, it'll get you nowhere regardless of firm.
So, I would do it bc I saw the email if I had time. But, my plans wouldn't be ruined due to the lack of my manger simply forwarding an email. All she had to do was forward the email when she received it. Also, why are some acting like everyone should check their work email on the weekends? Fuck that, unless it is a critical time in the project... absolutely not. We work hard during the week, I want nothing to do with it during my weekends. We are not on call. Everything we do can wait. We don't save lives.
Have a discussion with the manager on high priority matters to set a rule in their email to forward to you with specific rules set. Otherwise be straight with them.
Almost everything we do can wait...
Which OU?
Like I said - which OU?
I think it depends on how much time said request takes. Sub 1 hour, id probably do it then and there. Anything more than that I'd follow up and say I'm OOO but I can get to it Sunday night. If he expects anything else I'd say that's a conversation around respecting time.
It's not really a matter of opinion
