I was interviewed at EY UK on 7th Sep. It was quite smooth. Since then I haven't heard anything back from them though interviewer claimed SLA to get back with outcome of interview is 48 hours. On portal it still says I'm in hiring team phase. It was level 1 interview.
Should I take this delay as rejection?

May I know what is the notice period if one resigns in infy during the first 6 months of joining? Ahem yes. The answer is it depends. Three months is a healthy amount of time. If you are an associate, don't worry, someone will hire you. I'd depends on your interests, how much savings you have, if your parents can help. Give yourself the opportunity to interview at at least a couple of different places. Talk to people in the job you are interviewing for. That gives you perspective.
OP I'm kind of in the same boat. Applied to a ton of places, have heard back from 3 or 4, but one of them is moving so fast. I'm worried if that one works out, I won't have time to interview at the other places and will have less negotiation power in terms of salary and stuff like that. I was laid off in the beginning of June, so coming up on almost 2 months without a job
Are you FS? Consulting lounge has networking events; Ellevate network if you are a girl. Also hit the alumni database.
Also use your evenings to go to networking events that interest you. You can't search all day. Take a test or work out. It helps keep you sane.
Took me 3 months to get an offer after quitting my first job. In hindsight, should've gotten an offer and then quit. Just my $.02
Also @pwc1, what did you mean by test? Like gmat or career placement test?
You will be fine! If you need a job to pay the bills take one and keep looking. Or open your own consulting shop. Not everyone needs or wants "the big 4". Also, read Liz Ryan. She posts on Linked In, writes for Forbes and a business called "Human Workplace". Some outstanding advice there for almost everyone!
I have done the same dance between NY and a smaller city. Came back to NY in the end. Moving is expensive and disruptive so think it through.
P2 it is Ok. To give you some perspective, I was laid off in January 2010. I got the offer at the end of April because the firm I liked took 8 weeks to interview me. I kept other interviews open in the meantime. There is no single answer. I took the offer because I needed the visa and basically had an end of June deadline with my parents. So I didn't have the luxury of waiting for better offers, but the job turned out great.
P2 I think a week is a reasonable time frame to hear back for second or third rounds. Follow up with a thank you note right after the interview. Then if you don't hear back within a week follow up again. If you get an offer, you can ask for at least two weeks to make a decision on firm 1. In the meantime, you can ask firm 2 to move to last round since you have a competing offer. If firm 2 is interested they will expedite. This doesn't always work, but if you are polite and professional they will work with you.
Take the offer and keep losing owing for something better. Just make sure it's not a bridge you'll need later.
At least 3 months. It's a bit less stressful if you have a job while looking but that can be difficult and n the consulting world. All of f the above comments are correct and good advice.
@a1 unfortunately that's not in my control- I was laid off
@p1 not FS but not closed to the idea. Thanks for all the resources- extremely helpful!
Thanks everYone. I'm struggling with this because I feel I haven't had the chance to interview much because this offer came sooner than expected. I'm fine with 3 months search, but worried about just not getting anything at my level of experience. The offer requires very significant compromises I didn't want to take which is why it's hard for me to go into it lightly and continue searching
What are the compromises? Is it pay? Type of work? Location? The truth is that small firms cannot match the opportunities at PDubs. So if you want similar opportunities, I would suggest trying for uncle D, KPMG, MBB, Accenture. But this will take time.
@PwC1 It's location, which I wasn't expecting to change anytime soon (for a variety of reasons). Also having some doubts about the work after speaking to more people. Pay is actually better, but I'm more than OK to take a pay cut for a job that I like in the city I'm in.
@A2, thanks for the tip! Will check her work out
Op where are you?
