Given the increased risks of an accident due to drunk drivers on the road and extremely bad behaviors of the passengers in your car, I recommend getting off the road by 10:00 PM.
Yes, they will vomit in your car. They might also per on your car. Some will pick fights with you. Some will pass out or refuse to get out of your car. Some will bring open containers of alcohol into your car even after claiming they won’t, and that is a criminal charge on YOU, not them, if you get pulled over. If they bring that unsealed container into your car, they will spill it.
In my experience, if you are assaulted or your car is vandalized, Uber refuses to cooperate with the police investigation without a warrant by providing them the identity of the passenger; and the police can’t get the warrant without having started and investigation, so you will have no recourse.
My opinion? Stay home.
I was an Uber driver in the Salt Lake City metropolitan area. The last New Years Eve that I worked was two years ago. I was all over the place and the calls were pretty steady all night long and way into the morning. I probably did an 18 hour shift and brought home close to $500 including tips.
Yes, there are risks. I think there are in any job that you do however, you look for the dangers of the job. I never had an issue with someone vomiting or having an open container in my car. I also wouldnt pick up shady people either.
I put 100k miles on my car the first year I did Uber so there are those drawbacks of wear and tear on the car. There are also those drawbacks where you have to travel a bit of a distance for a fare and they only want to go a couple of blocks, so that was a bit frustrating as well.
I would have things in place such as a vomit bucket as well as bottled water for my guests. I also had phone chargers readily avalible for them as well. This will get you tips as well as five stars. Good luck and enjoy the ride!!!
This is a great question and I hope you find the answers you need.
I was busy, and two people did get sick in my car, so I'm not sure it was worth it lol how did everyone else do?
