What if Fishbowl implemented Blockchain ???
Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

You mean severance?
Lol

Can’t speak specifically to my situation.
Generally the answer is no. Exceptions include:
- large layoffs often have a severance package. money is typically contingent on you agreeing to waive wrongful termination lawsuits. Sometimes but not always there is an NDA component
- legal settlements. Think hostile work environment / sexual harassment. Virtually all will include some form of NDA or non disparagement clause
I’m confused. Like severance, or are you rewarding them for leaving?
You’d have to be pretty awful for someone to celebrate your departure..with a gift. Like literally your employment is detrimental to the business

I’ve heard of contract completion bonuses
Sign off? I’m not a computer bro 💀😅

Idk, you’re giving off mad computer vibes
I quit an industry job years ago, a month or so before bonus payout, becoming bonus ineligible. I was happy to do so because my new job essentially covered it with a sign on bonus.
On my last day with the old job they surprised me with my bonus - and it was much more than I expected. They said it was a gesture of gratitude, that I earned it, and they hoped I’d come back if I wasn’t happy at the new place. So decent. Made me really consider them good humans. And we all kept in touch even though I never did go back.
That’s called life insurance. But you’re not the one who collects it.
Lol wot?
That sounds like a redundancy … or a leave payout maybe?
Everyday when I sign off from work computer I got 50 bucks wired to my account.

I have heard of arrangements where after a trial period the employee can leave and gets a bonus. Designed to encourage people who don’t think it is a good fit to move along.
In sports, there are teams that want to trade a player and in order to do so, will continue to pay said player through their new team for a limited period of time... generally this is thought of as a trading fee...
Similarly, if a player has a 5 year contract with guaranteed money, the team is going to have to pay the guaranteed portion in order to cut or trade that player, unless the new team takes on the guarantee within the confines of the existing deal (rarely happens)
I think that’s called severance.

Severance, sign-off, whatever. I've gotten a couple just to sign an NDA on the way out.
I’m not expecting it but hoping to soon
