If you have assumed much more responsibility since the last review I would bring it up.
Can you talk to your manager about it? That seems a little bit ridiculous for it to take this long. Maybe they don't have a system in place for raises outside of the annual raise. But they should at least tell you that.
If you are important enough to them they can do anything. I once worked for Disney Imagineering and they were building a new theme park. I was hired in for clerical role but I wrote some software for them to track expenses (aspiring software developer). I later told the VP I was going to quit because I needed more money. He said don’t go anywhere. He then came back a few days later and told me they were going to double my salary and make it retroactive to my start date five months earlier. If you are not that important to them or don’t have the ears of an important person, don’t expect that to happen to you.
I wish, but it's been made pretty clear in our company that raises are only eligible at annual review time. I'd love to have the option to discuss it sooner, I'm still months away.
I’ve received and given off cycle raises based on performance.
We generally have 2 periods a year where we do raises so it’s not typical unless someone has another offer and we are interested in retaining them.
But, it's generally out of my hands and has to be supported by higher levels of leadership and approved by our HR/compensation team, also. The process can take some time but after 6 months, I personally would be looking for specifics of said review process, where it is currently hung up, expected decision date and how often I can expect to receive an update from my manager.
I wouldn't put it past the company (or manager, if a poor one) to string you along. Try to get details and work on Plan B, whatever that looks like for you.
