Not very common, but you can try. Show the value you bring and then propose the flexible or shorter hours. Could offer a trial run just to prove it’ll work. Worth trying if that is what you want. I usually see people take completely different roles, going part-time.
That sounds like a great way to put it. If you are already showing up and doing good work on especially in a niche thing. Worth it to have a conversation and see.
I have seen very few PT insurance related jobs or office related jobs for that matter.
You can try although when a company lists they are looking for FT they want FT not PT staff. If you are able to get a PT schedule you are also going to be dealing with a lower payrate with NO benefits.
Part time jobs are normally for people in high school or college OR those positions that are needed at less than 8 hours a day with being only for part of the week.
Rising Star
With almost 40 years of experience I can definitely do more work in fewer hours than the average employee. I'm basically looking for a bridge to retirement. Right now I only take home 40% of my pay anyway, due to taxes and maxing out my retirement account. So taking a huge pay cut is not a problem if it helps me avoid paying out of pocket for health insurance coverage. Many companies offer health insurance for part-time workers, including my company, but the roles are usually negotiated not advertised. Thanks for your "thoughts,"
