Who should get my loyalty? United or American?
I've been interviewing with some companies, and now I have to decide between JPMorgan Chase and Globant.
Globant is more innovative, and has remote work. I will enter to work with a Sillicon Valley startup based in San Francisco. The tech stack is React, Nextjs, AWS, and a serverless architecture.
JPM is semi remote, and less innovative. The tech stack Java, SpringBoot and AWS. But I'd do more migration tasks, like dockerize projects and pass them to kubernetes. What would you choose?

Amtrak is so much more convenient. You can walk into the train station 15 minutes before departure without issue. I've never had a delay of more than 30 minutes, so it's my go to for anything between DC and Boston.
I’ve done DC to NY (ultimate destination Boston) and it was fine - as others mentioned, no security. The food isn’t great but you can bring whatever you want to eat on the train. I’ve done boston to Ny a lot (and sometimes NY to Philly or Harrisburg) and while I have experienced delays, overall it’s better than flying.
I’ve taken it often (live in NYC) and never had serious delays. It’s pretty convenient imo.
I used to love that ride. I'd get to the station like 5 min before leaving. It's super smooth, has bigger seats. Drops you off under MSG, so you often don't even need a cab.
Only downside is not getting the air miles.
I’ve flown, driven, and taken Amtrak between NYC and DC and, though I love to drive and hate missing out on airline miles, the train is by far the most convenient.
You don’t have to worry about packing liquids, the schedule is pretty reliable, and it drops you off at Penn Station. There you can catch the subway or go pretty much anywhere. Getting to midtown from any of the three NYC airports will take you almost the same amount of time in the sky on that flight, not to mention the cab/Uber fare.
If you book far enough in advance, Amtrak has great pricing on that route. Book Acela if you want to get there faster, not as cheap though.
i’ve done it & preferred it ! you can be productive with regular internet / hotspot for longer period of time. with flying there is so much wasted time between the transit to the airport, being at the airport itself, boarding, etc
I take the Acela between Boston and NYC often and it's much more convenient than going to the airport. The train also goes fast enough to lull you to sleep
Amtrak is often delayed and the stations are a worse place to wait than an airport.
Book Acela, not regional trains -- delays are much rarer.

Yes! I think it’s better. Sometimes the train is delayed but I still think you run into traffic in DC, so it ends up being about the same time wise if you do have bad luck (but much cheaper!). But usually you don’t.
The train is my preferred method over bus and plane for DC.

Yes, everyone who regularly commutes between those cities uses the train, pretty common knowledge that it’s far more convenient and drops you off in midtown instead of an hour cab ride away
Question for those who responded positively to the train over air for northeast travel!
Does anyone value the lower carbon footprint that rail travel offers over air? Or is your support mostly centered around convenience?
I don’t give much of a crap to the carbon print, whatever we are doing is nothing compared to those corporate/factory. I had a few experience from DC to NYC in the airport (due to weather) and I just hop on the train and I laugh at some of my coworkers who waste 3 hours in the airport for the airline miles

Wouldn’t take it. Amtrak is pretty unsafe
I used to regularly take Amtrak from NYC to DC and still frequently take it between NYC and Boston. Delays aren’t that common, the stations are fine (better now that Moynihan has opened in NY), and it’s a very easy trip.
It is most convenient form of travel. I took train route for 6-8 times travel in month between NYC-DC and NYC-BOSTON for several years.
I've done this monthly for years. Overall, the train is much less hassle, though not as easy as it used to be pre-pandemic. Don't expect the wifi to be serviceable enough for live editing large shared spreadsheets or powerpoint decks while on board, but you can work on things offline easily and Teams will run off your phone's wifi. (Maybe the train if you get lucky, but generally it's too crowded and overloaded these days.) Food is okay at Moynihan if you want to grab something on the reverse commute. Go grab food early at the dining car if you need it because the best options sell out fast around dinner time. Acela first class is okay -- the meals are pretty good.
I also think the train is a better way to get from DC to NYC. I’ve done it from DC to NJ many times and never had any problems. Same with the few times I’ve gone on further to nyc or boston
used to take trains and bus from dc to nyc every weekend for two years. Never had problems unless it snowed crazy amount. Download the app.. You can use wifi as well. wayyyy better than plane (as international student i spent long hrs waiting for all public transportations throughout my life/ train is the best option for real) But you do want to buy tickets as early as possible if you want discounted price

Take Amtrak Acela
It’s always been an easy train trip for me. I’ve experienced delays 1 out of 10 rides.
DC resident here. Amtrak can be pricey if purchased last minute and they might have delays. Buses can get caught in traffic and have a higher carbon footprint. Flying is not worth it in my opinion because of the travel time to the airport, security lines, flight time, and travel to actual location in DC. All of that basically equals the time on a bus or train.
