Has anyone thought about or done international travel during the pandemic with a toddler, of course to a better place where the virus is less intense. The reason is personal and not a luxury or vacation. The worry and risk is more about traveling in the flight for extended duration and quarantine at landing, all with a toddler. Any comments, do it or never think about it ?

Everything has some sort of risk. It totally depends on your current situation, flight path and your destination. There’s no such thing as zero risk (unless you lock yourself in your house and never go out until everything is cured), so you just need to use your best judgement to pick the least risky path, and it may be the travel itself.
If you are living in a hot zone or one of the up and coming hot zones, your risk of exposure will still be there every time you go out for grocery or some interaction with a person and such and that person happen to have covid.
And you may not have risk at all if you happened to be on a close to empty flight or at least you take enough precautions and don’t end up in a packed flight.
And if you are going to place where your daily activities will reduce your risk of exposure, maybe the sum of the risk to fly is less than sitting at your current place.
It’s very hard to provide any concrete number on the probability without any information and also without any mean to calculate the chance of exposure. So it’s probably your best judgement to decide one way or the other.
I just talked a lot and the answer is we can’t help much. But my opinion is neither is a “never think about it” option.

Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

Spent the pandemic working on myself, got sober, focused on working out, left the music industry and started a career where I can make money and have a steady work schedule. Maybe this isn’t everyone’s version of “growing up” but that’s what this was for me. Now that I’m vaxed and seeing my friends, it’s clear we have little left in common, and honestly a lot of the things they do straight up embarrasses me. I don’t want to lose these long term friends. Has anyone else been in this situation?

Should I quit to my current manager(5th so far) or wait after mid year performance review, when a new boss will take over my team? I'm thinking on giving them 2 months notice period. Is genetic carrier screening prior to starting an ivf cycle necessary? I tested and found some disorders. Now my RE won’t start my cycle until my partner is tested. They are saying they will have to do special PGT tests if we are carriers of the same disorder. I am confused. I thought this type of testing was optional and usually recommended if you are using a donor. My guess is that they are booked and pushing me to the Jan cycle. Thoughts?

I work in a public school setting and am allergic to citrus. My district has stated that it is too much trouble to accommodate me. I carry an Epipen and have an anaphylaxis reaction to being exposed to citrus. My district is not accepting my doctor note. They think I am exaggerating and refuse to limit citrus fruits on my campus. An HR meeting concluded that I was required to work through it/use the emergency response team if I have “an issue”.
