Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.
One thing that COVID-19 has taught you?

Hi Folks,
What would be the sufficient monthly salary required for a single in Krakow? I can share my place of living with another colleague who is coming along with me. It would be helpful if you could also share the current visa processing time. My company has just initiated the process. #krakow #poland #hcl HCL Technologies

Everything has some sort of risk. It totally depends on your current situation, flight path and your destination. There’s no such thing as zero risk (unless you lock yourself in your house and never go out until everything is cured), so you just need to use your best judgement to pick the least risky path, and it may be the travel itself.
If you are living in a hot zone or one of the up and coming hot zones, your risk of exposure will still be there every time you go out for grocery or some interaction with a person and such and that person happen to have covid.
And you may not have risk at all if you happened to be on a close to empty flight or at least you take enough precautions and don’t end up in a packed flight.
And if you are going to place where your daily activities will reduce your risk of exposure, maybe the sum of the risk to fly is less than sitting at your current place.
It’s very hard to provide any concrete number on the probability without any information and also without any mean to calculate the chance of exposure. So it’s probably your best judgement to decide one way or the other.
I just talked a lot and the answer is we can’t help much. But my opinion is neither is a “never think about it” option.
We’re planning to do it at end of year. Going to a whole different continent to hide out a while (~4 months)
