Are you exercising and eating healthy? Every human being beautiful but we feel ugly when we physically not trying to be our best. Our face even changes with a healthy lifestyle.
You can try putting a post it note over your face on zoom. And in addition to working on your self esteem (consider online therapy or a self help book), I’m amazed at how much you CAN change how you look. Glasses, hair style & color, clothes, & makeup (even for men) can make a huge difference. Experiment and try some things.
A decent lighting kit changes everything. They’re like $20 on amazon. Actresses and actors are bitches & throw fits about lighting for a reason.
I feel the same. I wear glasses I don’t need during zooms so I can cover up...

I’m right there with you. I’m sorry. From one ugly copywriter to another (self-described) one, I like to think of all my favorite writers who weren’t especially hot. Maybe ugliness is the key to being a good writer?
But yeah. Zoom is a huge bummer when you don’t feel good about yourself. My company requires cameras on, and I really wish they didn’t.
The best advice I’ve got is to reject traditional beauty standards and own your ugliness. Who gives a damn about a pretty face? You don’t have time for that — you’re too busy being a cool, smart, talented badass writer to worry about looks.
