They are accepting people from EY. Yes the brand is diluted and you are the reason
Oh and you people sound like sociopaths
The key is to look at the role. We are definitely recruiting excessively weak profiles for roles starting with âDigitalâ (i.e Digital Analyst, Digital Expert). However, roles within Digital McKinsey that use the same nomenclature as generalists (BA/ASC/EM/AP) are fineâsimilar promotion times, colleges/MBAs
Maybe they're coming around to the reality that you are not your education path.
D1 simple reason is that in digital studies, weâve found we can achieve similar impact with less prestige. I think you can craft a compelling story for whatever exit you have in mind based off of impact you drove, regardless of the brands on your resume
Yea, not what it used to be
D1, itâs because they have to. This is a simple supply and demand issue. The supply of talent that is knowledgeable about digital services is significantly outpaced by the demand from clients requesting those services.
This is also why if you do have digital anything on your LinkedIn, odds are high youâll be pinged for roles and odds are high that youâll progress to final round and even get hired at places like McK
I am a digital expert, with lots of experience. Would welcome an opportunity to bring that to McK.
A1, what are you waiting for? Go network, get a referral and apply
@d1 I donât think exit opps will consciously remind themselves âoh the standards have been lowered.â Worth a shot
The profiles arenât necessarily subpar â just different. Across the industry, weâre seeing that the skills and approach that typical hires (e.g. a bunch of Ivy League MBAs) would bring donât always align with what our clients actually need. Digital transformation doesnât happen with excel models and PowerPoint.
And yes, these digital hires usually have a path to partner â just ask what it is.
I am still going to take the interview, but would like to know the insider perception. Do you still go to market as âMcKinseyâ and charge the same rates?
Have the same questions đ
I too have seen some people on LinkedIn that made me wonder how the hell they were hired into that role.
@M1 interesting! Can you elaborate? Why are you lowering your standards for us?
They are trying to play catch up
So if someone from big 4 joins McK, does it still look good on their resumes for exit opportunities or will people know places like McK lowered their standards? Just evaluating whether itâll still be a good opp or try to transfer to Deloitte Digital
Seems like it will erode the brand to have sub par people. What do I know.
@Mck1 and @Mck2, do you know what the career paths are? For example, if someone joins as a Digital Associate or as an Agile Consultant, can they go on to become EM, Principal, Partner etc.?
They are sub par when it comes to leveling. When people grab Sr and manager level titles with no experience because of the need to grow, thatâs a concern.
