Have you ever had an executive use detailed descriptions of surgery to describe the transformations your company was going to go through that year? I mean like listing organs, talking about “blood all over the table”, etc? Well I wouldn’t recommend those metaphors to anyone in a professional setting but we had to sit through an extended metaphor this week. GROSS was the unanimous response from everyone. “It just keeps going” said one of my coworkers. 0/10

That sounds horrendous. I haven't had to sit through that, thankfully. One of the most awkward things I remember was a manager I worked for who always put things in military terms. He had no military background at all. He was a grown man who played video games, and that seemed to make him think he was a tough guy. It's been a while since I've heard office work described as storming the beaches, and I don't miss it.

These people have no introspection, I fear

I’ve heard some expressions like “cutting the fat” or “can’t cut more or we will hit bone”. Nothing more graphic.

In my organization, most with my role are commission based.
