Having a slight crisis. Currently in house, 2YOE, pretty underpaid and work pretty long hours. Love my job, am learning a lot, and love my team. Just saw a job opening at a firm in my dream practice area (tried to break in my whole time in law school but couldn’t). Firm is one of our outside counsel and I get along with them well. Obviously a huge career switch so I don’t want to make any rash decisions. Is it a good idea with one of my contacts there just to talk it over?

Would you say most in-house roles tend to hire from BigLaw?

Very specific to retail and/or hospitality in-house roles: has anyone found a good solution for predictive scheduling? Our retail division has one set of software for scheduling and one for payroll, and neither of them can handle predictive scheduling compliance issues unless they’re used for both the scheduling and payroll functions. I’m coming up empty on ideas for them to bridge the gap, but I’m also new to my compliance counsel role, so I would be overjoyed if anyone has suggestions.
