Do you think that moving back to India can solve your career problem. But as a Individual I can say no if you are a IT professional I will suggest move to Germany I know initially you will find difficulty for language but I am sure within 6 month you gonna learn German language. For a IT professional there is a lots of opportunities and good payment scale in Germany. People are saying come to India you will get this that. I am sorry to say within a year you will fedup. So if you are In Australia from past many year search to move to other countries like Germany or USA you will be happy.

First contemplate on your decision to leave India in the first place.
Come back only when you can get in hand 3 lakhs after taxes, considering your wife does not want to work.
NCR & Mumbai are unlivable when it comes to property prices, road infra, pollution, etc. name the issue it is present here.
one thing you wont get anywhere else is the community acceptance and your family and relatives, if that is important then come back.
What's your tech?
Stay in australia i would say. Because you will be taxed high here and your quality of life would be better there.

Ask yourself the following questions before making a decision:
What is your end goal in life?
– Do you want early retirement and a simple life with your family, or do you have high materialistic ambitions?
If your goal is a materialistic lifestyle, ask yourself:
– How much money is enough to live a luxurious life?
If you prefer a simple life, then remember:
– Earning ₹40 LPA in India is more than enough to live comfortably.
