401k tax question: Married US Citizen currently working abroad. I will be returning to the US in 2 months. However, prior to returning I would like to max out my tax advantage. Cont.
Life / Career Advice: I applied to medical school since my MCAT score was set to expire, ended up getting into 1 program. I also have an opp to join a well funded/well established Healthtech Startup (6 figure salary w/ equity + benefits) as a BD professional. I enjoy the business side of things and am unsure if I would end up practicing Medicine (medicine is also a long arduous path). At the same time, having an MD holds a lot of clout/authority in HC. Any thoughts on what I should do?
I'm sorry if this is out of place, but is anyone interested in coming on my veteran podcast? I work for a Nonprofit Organization that provides supportive services to veterans in CA, NV and AZ and our podcast discusses issues relevant to veterans. I'm organically searching for veterans who are willing to talk about their experiences, mental health and healthcare, employment, case management, housing for the homeless, etc. We don't require you to be an expert on anything.
As someone with a background in the military, is it worth it to try to go back to the government as a tax analyst or senior tax analyst for the Dept of the Treasury? I'm wondering if I'll have an edge in getting hired as I've been at the GS-13 level before I left the military and I'm hoping I can use that time in service to add to a pension time requirement in the government.
What is your firm’s paternity leave policy?
Received a job offer for an industry senior job that would be a $20K pay bump plus nice bonus and really good benefits (a lot better then my current benefits) and much better work/life balance. However, I was pretty much guaranteed to be early promoted to manager this year (in August). I don’t really see myself staying until partner so I’m trying to weigh out the pros and cons to help me make a decision.
Looking at 401k. Some funds are -10%+ YTD, others are -1% YTD. Does that mean there is more upside to the -10%+ YTD funds? I'm staying away from energy ones, but looking at VEIRX, -17% for the year
Can someone clarify the tax benefits of an HSA? I see a lot of people using it as a retirement vehicle. Are gains tax free? Are sales taxable?
How do the pension benefits work for partners/principals at the big 4? Can anyone share details on vesting rules or calculations? I assume it varies from firm to firm…just wanting to understand the difference with what Accenture offers MD’s (401k, VEIP).
Purchased a basic AA ticket for my wife... those things are rough... very restricted. Only part of my status that benefits her is the priority boarding and I think the gate agent just let us have it..
Anyone else? I have a full set up (multiple monitors, standing desk, the whole nine) in my home office, but as often as I can (like when I have a webinar or training to watch) I like to sit on the couch with just the laptop and get the full benefits of puppy snuggles 🥰🥰
Has anyone had experience adding their old employers 401k account to their new employers 401k? Is this a pretty standard thing?
Anyone working with ITSS, do let me know about the company and benefits given to employee?@ITSS
Besides pay/benefits, what are changes that happen when you move from a C to M levels? Do you have access/exposure to different tools that help you do your job/take on bigger responsibilities?
Have a friend in need of remote work (kid with bad lung disease at home, doesn’t want to risk bringing COVID home). He has a bachelors and masters degree in math but no formal business experience. What are his chances getting hired in consulting, and what might be the best kind of practice for him to look at?
Moving to the DC area, but looking into two different types of programs:1.) Georgetown Flex MBA 2.) MPH Johns Hopkins. I’m working a remote commercial position in pharma, but am wondering if any of two programs will help me in securing a role in a tier 2 consulting firm? In the long-term would like to stay in pharma
I asked a vice chair in my group to talk informally about working remotely going forward (we already are remote now and was largely flexible pre covid) and also a possible pay bump. This is my first salary/work benefit negotiation and I’m so nervous I might just unhire myself before we actually get to talk 😭😭

Anyone used Botox to treat TMJ/teeth-grinding? My dentist said i should get a mouth guard and potentially do some physical therapy. I seem to be doing a lot of clenching/teeth grinding in the night. I was googling other options and came across a suggestion for Botox. I already get Botox in my forehead for cosmetic purposes so I'm not worried about Botox generally, but unsure how common it is in the jaw for this medical purpose.
Anybody else tired of working from home/remote?
Recommendations for workout during pregnancy that is travel friendly? Any recommendations for online/youtube yoga classes for example? Thanks!
So bankers are getting Pelotons or even bonuses (10k for Moelis, 20k for citi analysts /associates) for too many work hours and the burnout feeling. Pretty sure most consultants feel the same way. Anything EY is considering doing to boost the WFH burnout morale. Can uncle Mitch buy us all a peloton to compete with industry standards
Hiring manager during first round at Facebook said let’s move you to the next round (s), and that was early last week. Since then no word from the recruiter. Is that weird ? Or did they find someone better ? Followed up this week, but nothing. This is what ghosting looks like then🙄

Privacy fish - Anyone taken the CIPM and can share what the exam is like? Content outline seems like application of standard consulting approach, so how do they test it on an exam?
Hi Folks, I am currently working at BCG GS. I am getting an exact similar role at Bain. Now I am unsure if I should make this switch. Any suggestions?
