Hello all, just joined. I use a lot of ed tech in my classroom and would love to connect and exchange ideas with others.

I need to talk with a teacher about inappropriate behavior some parents are complaining that she has in the classroom. How do I approach this without accusing her or making her feel ambushed?

I'm currently a middle school social studies teacher (this is my 10th year of teaching) and formerly worked as a home health care manager at our local area agency on aging (4.5 years) and as a behavioral modification counselor for adjudicated teens in a residential behavioral modification program (5 years). I had a tutoring business for 1.5 years as well. I'm looking to transition away from the classroom if anyone has any jobs or job leads I might be qualified for, please let me know. Thank you!

Has anyone incorporated responsive classroom into their school-wide PBIS framework? If so, what are some things you did that have worked really well?

I am working on putting a PD session together for new teachers about using tech in the classroom. What tools/skills do new teachers need to know when they get started (other than learning their school's grading/attendance platform)?

Organization is critical for classroom management. Try assembling units into Google Slides with links to ppts, activities, etc. Color code them according to the rainbow: Unit 1 red, Unit 2 orange etc. It takes a minute at first but the payoff is a one click upload for next year! PS I use the same color code system with felt tip pens to grade my classes: 1st hr red, 2nd hr orange etc.

I'm transitioning from teaching 8th grade mathematics at a public school to teaching a 7/8 self-contained classroom at a charter school.
Any advice for teaching mixed grade levels or multi subject is appreciated: scheduling, classroom setup, subject order, behavior management, etc. I'm struggling to find my rhythm with only 6 weeks before kids return.

I work for a company with a pretty generous PTO policy and a mostly remote flex policy (4 days a month in office if within 75 miles of the building). One thing I’m wondering if there is a way to help us I get the “I’m taking a mental health day” call out regularly which causes a strain on the rest of the team because we were unable to prepare like we would with pre-planned PTO. Any ideas of things I can do as a manager to encourage pre-planned PTO instead of these call outs?
