Yes it is too much too soon! My school does not allow any free imaginative play. All centers are strictly standards based depending on either math or literacy.

There is a lot that is being put on our children in K, but most people do not realize the RSA law starts in K. Unfortunately, they are tightening the law in regards to stidents in K. That data is reported to state.

Yea it is too much too soon. My school only has 30 mins of blocks/choice time and 30 mins of recess. Everything else is academic based. My students are expected to write (mainly using inventive spelling for now), read at an F&P level of at least D, and have a good understanding of many math concepts before 1st grade. Kids who don’t sadly are held back another year

It's the same with my district and it's sad. Kids can't be kids anymore, and who knows if anyone will actually listen to us who believe it's too much.

I am a California teacher looking to relocate. My son is pushing for Boerne. I have spent most of my life in small private Christian schools and loved it! When I moved to public school the large class sizes and trauma/sped students filling my classroom burned me out. I moved to homeschool this year (with my same district) and love it!!! I am curious about teaching in Texas. Class sizes, special ed, private school, etc. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

I have been helping him with lesson online resources & creating hyper docs for the lessons. He is struggling with the students not having a lot of supplies at home and how to have them create multiple day art pieces. he teaches at a low income area, how is everyone handling supplies to students?

Hey all!! Any idea of different types of jobs that would be suitable for an educator, specifically one with a masters in C&I? I am on an engagement that has 2 managers. I enjoy working with 1 manager. He is very understanding and provides feedback/guidance. However, the other belittles me. She is constantly asking “why” and even when I am not sure of the response she keeps pressuring. She provides no actual information for me to learn from. Not sure if I should correct her on how she should speak to me. Or if I should jump ship & ask not to be on this engagement. still new so i am not stuck on this team yet.

What do you consider a fair hourly rate for a NICU nurse? Background: I have 30 years NICU experience. My hourly rate is $42.00, $4.00 weekend differential. My daughter is also a nurse with about 8 years experience. She was just offered a position on a neurological unit making $40/hr base plus a $12/hr weekend differential (same hospital system in Atlanta ). I’m kind of at a loss at what to think and do. I’ve been with this hospital since 2014, but think maybe it’s time to tell them bye.

Living in Van. Previously lived in Toronto. Obviously rent prices are high as is cost of living. Generally go out and spend more often living in a city. Boyfriend and I on good salary but not saving much due to the above. Before we move home to our own country, we’d love to spend a year close to Vancouver where rent is cheaper, temptation is less, to save. A commute to Vancouver 1-2 times a month needs to be possible (his job). That can be a flight if it’s not crazy. Thoughts? Recommendations?
