I saw a lot of retail resumes in my searches for front desk personnel over the years. I did bypass most of them because it can be difficult trying to find the right person to even train--think HIPAA, OSHA, patient collection policies. Do try to watch what you post on social media too! Hiring managers look people up and if they see a lot of "chaos" or negative posts (lock your profiles), they will pass you up too! There is enough drama in most medical offices. If I see a lot of spelling errors on a resume, I know I do not have the time to teach someone how to spell the more complicated medical terms. Anatomy--a good example most people are not aware of is "cervical." This can refer to the upper neck or the cervix. Be willing to learn the terminology by reading through a medical dictionary if need be and list that as an accomplishment or skill on your resume. If we can see you are making an effort to transition to the medical field, we are more likely to give you a second look.
Thank you so much! Super helpful tips. Luckily all my socials are private and I don't post often so I don't think that'll be too much of a concern. As for medical terminology, I was thinking about spending money on a training course through coursera so I can put that on my resume and hopefully showcase my desire to break into this industry. Hopefully courses/certifications like that will aid in making me a more appealing candidate. Anyway, thank you again! The insight is very appreciated.

The only advice I can give is to keep things concise. And as you stated, catered to each specific role you’re applying for.
