Hi Friends, any news for ITA (C2) promotion?
Hello fellow introverts! Instead of talking to people I have an Instagram account to shout my opinions about books into the void. Id love it if any of you would be willing to take a look and give me feedback on the reviews. I feel like they aren't quite at the level I'm aiming for.

I hate these questions. I just wanted a family. A kind husband and 4 kids. I came from broken family and I wondered what stable parents would be like. I have the vivid memory of a mom walking her kids to school every morning. We lived in a tough neighborhood. Gangs...Where was mine? Sleeping, no joke. Did I manage it? I wish I could say yes. At 40 hubby found himself in his midlife crises. I have forged ahead and became my 3 kids rock. We are tight. I’m in a good place.

Back when I was in high school I worked in room service at the Marriott in Paris (I’m French).
I was mind blown by those fancy people ordering 18€ burgers or just one bottle of beer with a huge room service fee on top of the 200€+ a night/room. I was fantasizing that they were world travelers on glamorous vacations in Paris with no money worry in the world.
Now I realize that they were people like me now who had to spend the night in their dumb hotel room eating there while churning slides instead of discovering gourmet nearby restaurant.
I feel sad for them and I am so glad I only realized that later instead of being jaded and disappointed in what the future could hold.

I have European and Asian heritage and I thought life wasn’t worth living unless you lived in London and Paris. I still love both cities but not sure I can live in either now.

I thought just having stairs in your house was a big deal! It was 6 of us in a 1 bdrm apt in NYC.
To buy the cereal you wanted at the grocery store. Every time.

I am still baffled at why cereal doesn’t come in gallon sized ziploc bags, and why so few people implement this idea themselves.
Do you LIKE stale cereal?

For me it was: a pool in the backyard or if you were able to buy your lunch in school every day.

Electric car windows - clearly I’m older than you guys. BTW - it was HUGE when we got them, like hitting the lottery.

When you’d put the CD in the CD player and then it got sucked the rest of the way in? I was pretty sure that was the fanciest thing on the planet, in the early 90s.
Curved stairs in your house
How about just stairs? I thought that was a status marker.

Knowing how to play certain sports. (Skiing, skating, golf.) Having clothes that fit. A pair of winter boots. Being able to order a drink, or dessert at a restaurant.

Yes!! To all. Even now i ask if its free refills and i know i get looked at but if i am paying $3 for a drink it better come with free refills. Also remember my friend saying how bad she felt i also had holes in my shoes my toes poking out.

If you were driven around in a limo... but now having met people with ACTUAL old money, I realize that is just tacky.
Same here! I thought limos were for the ultra rich and celebrities. The movie Richie Rich added to it. I would always ask my mom “who do you think is in there?”

Being able to take a hot shower and having my own bedroom. My family were Vietnam war asylums and 6 of us were cramped into a tiny 2 bedroom apartment in France, the water heater tank (not sure what’s it’s called) never had enough hot water for us all to shower, so we had to boil hot water and take individual mini baths each night. We slept 3 to a bedroom until my mom got remarried to my step dad who lived in the US and moved us here. The day i arrived in my new home I thought I had landed in paradise, having my own bedroom and bathroom for the first time in my life. There also was a fridge with crushed ice dispenser, which felt like the ultimate luxury ☺️.

Omg. So relevant as I just got a new refrigerator this week and I keep mentioning to my husband how it has a water and ice dispenser (not in the door, just inside). He finally was like, “this is really it for you, huh?”
He grew up with a sub zero, I grew up getting “one treat” a week “to share” at the grocery store. Not poor but it was tight and could have gone south at any time. But it wasn’t the house or the car or flying first class (ok so the BA lounge was sort it it), but it was this water dispenser that has me so tickled!
When I was very young it was a whole bedroom just for guests, all new (not 5 yr old hand-me-down) clothes, and brand name snacks.
Yes to brand name snacks! My mom never got Oreos or fruit roll ups .. I don’t even remember what the brand was that she got

Every person having their own bedroom and flying to vacation spots. Shared a room until I was 18 and didn’t fly until I was 1 month shy of 18. We weren’t poor but were definitely lower middle class.
My dad didn’t fly until we went on a family vacation after my mom’s dad passed. He was 48. That was also my first flight at 16. Definitely crazy to think considering how much I fly now... but why I still may get excited for window seats.

To own your own home. My parents rented until their late fifties, and it was a big source of shame

Same for me! I was always so anxious to lose my home if they had an accident or something. I bought my first home at 28 and I’m putting most of my money in it to not have a mortgage. I want to feel financially safe.

Going to a restaurant with waiters! Going on a family vacation! Having my own bed!

Flying first class, fine dining, butlers, exotic vacations, and sailing your own yacht in the South Pacific with a hot babe next to you. Too much of watching James Bond I think.
