Hello everyone,

I am currently working with my PLC on the implementation of small groups in a more effective format. I have come up with some ideas, but they have been shot down pretty quickly for logistical reasons. Hence, I am currently spinning my wheels and, to be honest, overwhelmed. Do any of you have any suggestions for a 90 block with small group rotation and integrated transportation rotation?

Virtual or in class?

We are actually going to have both. I will have a group in front of me and a virtual group as well.

We always parse the mods with 4 or 5 options and then populate the side cadres with the remaining students.

In this case, we don't have co-teachers or TA's for the other groups. I want it to be effective and flow cohesively, but I am worried that some are in front of me and some will be behind a computer screen.

I often use a collaborative document for online groups and ask them to enter their name in a different color so I can see their contributions at a glance. Give them a contextual problem and tell them to be ready to share strategies. The students in the classroom can create an anchor chart or four corner paper (begin work in one of four corners of chart paper, rotate the paper, add to or ask a clarifying/driving question, rotate again until all members are back to their own beginning spot). No opt out in either of these strategies. Then I ask them to share out beginning with least complex strategy to the one that nails the concept of the day. This takes a lot of culture building and growth mindset to encourage risk taking.

Thank you. I will talk to my team and we will go off of this as a base. This has helped so much. 😊

A question from a youngster. Is working at a big big company with slightly low pay better or working at a much smaller company with higher pay better?

In the future, after a few years, let’s say I’m at a small company and want to switch to big big company, will the “small names” hurt my chance to get into the big doors?

I mean big big company is like 10x bigger than the small one if this was a factor. Assume everything else the same, WLB, commute, teams, etc.

I’ve been told my company is changing my title from Associate Director of BD to Sales Executive. I’m concerned it reads like a title demotion. Is it just semantics? How will this look for my career development? Curious about the standard perception of Sales Executive from a seniority perspective. Where does this land on the sales roles hierarchy? For context, it’s a professional services firm, I’ve been there 3+years, and they gave a Sales Executive title to someone who just started 5mo ago.

Hello fellow fishes,
I'm 5 YOE in analytics, mainly CPG/Retail business understanding and solutioning with a touch of python.

I'm planning to enter in freelancing. What could be a potential stream and how to break through into that first project.

So as a 30ish yo with a government/PE/tech background and CIPM/CIPP… I’m finding privacy work is just much easier and interesting than other kinds, but still pays plenty well.

Is it too late/inadvisable to go to law school to specifically aim for privacy work?

I just find some firms are unwilling to entertain the idea that anyone but a lawyer has anything relevant to contribute in this space…

My old employer asked me if I wanted to come back to the company as a manager. The pay will likely be much better and the position holds more responsibility than I’ve had before, so overall it would be a step up. The issue is I left the company because of an abusive manager who constantly put me down and made me feel like I wasn’t doing anything right. If I come back I’d be working under her again. I’m torn because the opportunity is great but the stress was awful. Continued in comments…

I finally was able to convince my principal that we need a consistent math intervention at the MS level (grades 5-8). It would be beneficial to have some sort of progress monitoring tool as part of the program, if possible. Our classes run roughly 55 minutes (which is too long for an intervention, in my humble opinion).

Thanks for any advice.

I found using GoFormative’s free version to be very helpful in teaching new topics to my students. I embed videos I make demonstrating how to complete a question, next I ask them to complete an example showing work, and then the next question they type their answer so it automatically alerts them to see if they answered correctly. It can be used live in a meet and on an independent virtual day. In my google meets, I’m able to give feedback on any question they have trouble with in real time.
