USI Insurance brokerage and consulting - thoughts? A recruiter reached out to me via linked in and I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on this company. They seem to have decent reviews on Glassdoor but I was hoping to get more insight into workload and comp. Thanks in advance! USI

Stick it through. I am an AC at Slalom too. Was staffed immediately and started grinding on a project. If I had time off on the bench, I would:
- pick an area I want to provide value in, and get a cert (I am working on Azure AZ900 rn while staffed)...shit maybe even do two at the same time if your that free
- coffee chats - two a day easily. Positive reputation and being well networked will get you on a project
- become an SME in something for your market - be the point of contact of knowledge for an area, even if it's small
- enjoy down time: cook, eat well, exercise, get in phenomenal shape
Chances are, another job will not be the solution. Leaving this opportunity will leave a bad taste in your mouth of what could have been...your being paid great money with a lot of flexibility right now. Take advantage and good luck my friend :)
Adding onto this - Slalom is known for no layoffs during the pandemic and jumping to a new company in this market may be difficult and even if it’s doable, you may run into similar concerns with few project opportunities.
Benching for a few months for new hires is quite normal. It’s better than working 80 hours a week but getting paid the same…Enjoy the free time while you have, go pick a hobby, learn something new. You will regret a lot once you get on a project as you realize you cannot buy back your time.
Are there just no projects available? The bench work may seem dull but it’s a great time to chill a bit going into the holiday months. You get paid the same even if you were on a project.
