I have 1.5 YOE in MC and was recently contacted about an opportunity for a data analyst role in private equity. I’m pretty clueless about the space, but comp is an 85% pay raise and the work generally sounds interesting. Has anyone exited to a similar role? What’s career growth like? My cousin wants to enter into the IT industry but his graduation is from non Tech (B.A). So I have suggested him to persue and MBA in IT or MCA may be from distance learning will also help.
Please give suggestions which will be the most feasible way to enter the IT industry, given that he is financially not much sound but he is very smart and hardworking.

Need advice & perspectives: I got a verbal review from my manager saying he couldn’t see me as senior cuz I didn’t follow the design doc format he mandates from all designers. While I have been the only designer who does almost everything from design, UI asset creation, wiring up UI in Unity (I am in mobile gaming).
Also the product I’m on has been in MVP stage, things move extremely fast and design decisions changed constantly. He’s not on my team.

I’ve been interviewing with Google since July. Passed the first interview but the team I was matched with ended up hiring someone else. Recruiter told me that she will let me know if any other opportunities arise as I’m still in the running and haven’t been rejected. I thought that was my job as the ux designer to figure out the best way to solve a need. But I’m getting handed projects where the PO, and sometimes the senior designer has laid out exactly what should happen (components used, flow, etc) to design a feature. It’s really frustrating because I don’t know if I’m supposed to be speaking up on what I think or just do the UI work I’m asked to.

I'm currently working in Architecture working on transitioning into UX Design. I took a UX class through UCLA Extension for a quarter and so far (from a fairly objective view) I'm ahead of the game than the rest of my peers since I already have a lot of transferrable skills like software & design skills. I'm planning to take one more quarter of class. Will that be enough to put together a portfolio along with architecture pieces?
