Thoughts on 401k allocation at 26? Considered just doing all SP500 but kinda want more diversification. Small cap seems to have a very high expense ratio (0.82%); is it still a generally good play? Also mid cap performance seems meh compared to SP500...

UXers - I'm intrigued to know how specific your job role is under the umbrella term of UX. Would your job sway into other avenues such as UI, design, development or consultancy?

What do you think about using design sprints for every feature of your product? I have recently collaborated with a team of designers that is using DS for every little feature and we argued about the utility of using this (time consuming and costly) process.

Their arguments are that it makes us look more as professionals if we do that, it aligns the team on the same output and it is easier for them to focus just on process.

I’ve had several great interviews with a few diff companies. Or rather, I thought they went well but then I get the dreaded “thanks but we made the difficult decision to move forward with other candidates”. I’ve asked for feedback but so far have gotten none.

I know it’s competitive out there, but I also don’t know how I can either position myself better, seek positions that are more aligned with my expertise/experience, or work on improving certain areas.

Any advice on how to proceed?

I’m doing my first UX portfolio on Wix. I have the case studies content drafted out, but I’m struggling with brainstorming wireframes/actual UI for my case studies. I make it a rule to look for dribbble/behance for inspo but only sketch when im not looking at things because I don’t want to copy directly.

I’ve tried using paper/thin markers highlighters, tried using procreate, and also illustrator/photoshop & a tablet. I keep running into issues where I feel overwhelmed. How do I simplify this?

Is it normal for a Product Owner to lay out specs for how a feature should work?

I thought that was my job as the ux designer to figure out the best way to solve a need. But I’m getting handed projects where the PO, and sometimes the senior designer has laid out exactly what should happen (components used, flow, etc) to design a feature. It’s really frustrating because I don’t know if I’m supposed to be speaking up on what I think or just do the UI work I’m asked to.

I have the option of switching from a lead UX designer to a principle UX designer in my current company. How will this title change be looked upon by recruiters/hiring managers on LinkedIn or at the next company I apply to? Would the pay bands be higher or lower?
