Hey everyone,

What's the one thing you wish your current workplace genuinely understood or offered to better support women navigating menopause?

Thinking about what truly makes a difference beyond just "talking about it." Curious to hear your thoughts!

Interesting question. I'd like to see more discussion and support around menopausal systems rarely discussed: Brain fog and insomnia being the two highest ones that affect the work I do for the company. Solution? The only one I can think of is cross training and hiring more resources so I don't have to push through a rough day of no sleep and high brain fog, only because nobody else does what I do. TLDR: don't run internal departments so damn lean.

Also, maybe create safe spaces where women can share knowledge about their experiences and share what benefits the company *does* have.

Curious what others think

That's fair. It might be nice to have a dedicated chat space where, as a colleagues, I could learn about what works for you. Something kind of official/non official.

Interesting question. I would never share my menopausal status or expect anything special, but perhaps that’s just me.

Men also experience aging/hormonal and physical changes and I don’t see anything special done for them either.

I’m more concerned about ageism and how that impacts my career opportunities.

No. I have no problem obtaining HRT from my physician and don’t view management of symptoms as a responsibility of my employer.

There’s no need to “discuss” my menopause at work….. I mean, we don’t offer “ED support/discussion” to men.

Not all personal issues should be brought into the work environment for discussion.

When do you think associates are usually let go in small practice groups that are currently being overwhelmed with work? Is it when it starts to slows down or when they already have a candidate to replace you? Just trying to figure out how long I have after annoying a partner 😂.

I’m curious how long people were in the peri menopause phase? I’ve read it’s an average of 4 years but I’m curious what people’s experiences are. I believe I am late stage peri menopausal and my periods have been very irregular for the past 9 months ranging 13-60 days between periods. If anyone has any studies you could point me to, I’d love to see those as well! I’m 40 and my mom entered menopause at 41.

Just venting - In my 50 and tired of monthly periods with no end in sight. According to blood/hormone tests I’m pre/peri menopause. I hate the drier skin, hormone changes, thinning hair and weight gain (no matter how I adjust my diet and exercise the scale will not budge). Fortunately the one symptom I don’t have is hot flashes. Sigh. Does this get better at any point?

I keep forgetting to ask about this but I noticed ever since my hysterectomy years ago I have arthritis (I think) in my fingers. Basically I can’t open things that I easily could before like jars, caps, and even ziploc bags. Has anyone else experienced this? Basically your hands and fingers feeling weaker, numb, painful or just not working? Any way to combat this? TIA 🐟

Question about health insurance. Since some of us are at the age of more preventives, such as colonoscopies and mammograms, are PPO plans the best option? Does anyone have an HSA? Do you recommend it? Yes or no? Thanks!!

I’m 46, entering perimenopause and know very few women who’ve reached this stage via age rather than as the result of surgery. What are the symptoms you’ve experienced? My male GP seems pretty clueless. For me: shorter and heavier cycles, plus worsening cramps.

I finally broke down and went back on HRT last week. I have been taking gabapentin for a nerve injury which I’ve learned helps hot flashes. I can’t tell a significant difference yet aside from maybe getting a little better sleep. I saw a new doctor (male) to get my prescription refilled and he seems to have a different philosophy than my last doctor (female). He wants me to be on HRT until 51, but after that he doesn’t recommend it. I hope by that age I’ll be off the gabapentin…

I’ve been researching as I enter peri and I’m pretty convinced I want to try low dose birth control to regulate my symptoms. Anyone gone this route and if so what brand do/did you like?

Hello Everyone!!
Happy Friday!
I wanted to let you know we are having a beginner meditation session next Tuesday Feb 9th from 8:30 - 9 PM EST.
You should see a reminder on Monday.
I’m very much looking forward to this event! If anyone else wants to volunteer to lead these mindful sessions please let me know as I’d love to make this a regular occurrence.

I wanted to start a thread. What vitamins / supplements / medications are you taking for your menopause symptoms? I’m supposed to take Estradiol pills twice per day but sometimes am horrible at remembering. I should be taking D3 per my Doctor but when I ran out earlier in the year I never bought more. The same goes for my multivitamin although I’m sure I really need one! I wonder if I should just use natural remedies like Black Cohosh, but that didn't work well for me.

Hi ladies- i am 45 and pretty healthy- I am on my second irregular cycle! ughh- is this how it all starts? Wonderinf if i need to make a dr appt? do they just tell u yes its perimenopause and send u home? Otherwise, no issues with irregular cycles, cramps, hot flashes etc.

Hi ladies, I'm in my mid 40s and I think I'm entering peri. I currently have a Mirena but I should replace it again soon, but one more will put me into my 50s(!!) and I was wondering if anyone here knows that they're in peri or menopause without having periods. Is there blood work or something to check? I definitely do not want to have another child accidentally. I've got 5 more years until my youngest is in college and don't want to start over again.
