The most supportive thing for me is a special category of Sick Time that can only be used for Covid-related care. Everyone can use it to care for themselves or others. Includes quarantine periods. I’m pretty sure companies get federal incentives to offer this time.
Our company provides for on call child care for a few weeks
Genuinely curious how this works in a sick and/or quarantine scenario in the context of COVID.
Is this theoretically in the event of an exposure or if kids are sick? Curious about why winter and why not now? It’s been so tough this whole time with quarantines and runny noses. 😭
But yes, trying to get my company to provide more support or even just a top down comms bc I think some people without kids are going about their lives but it’s still a huge issue for my coworkers with kids, especially if they’re in school.
A friend who works at a publisher said they made a blanket policy that people with kids under 12 (I think) have the option to work from home indefinitely.
I’d love to know which publisher- I used to work in publishing and dying to get back into it if I can work from home!
